The 2011 ISC Century Family Farm Awards have wrapped up and it was another successful year for this popular and prestigious recognition program.
Four celebratory events were held across the province during the week of May 30 - June 3. The events were attended by 274 recipient families. In all, ISC recognized 525 families in this year's program. Click here to view the names of all 525 award recipients.
The families who attended an event were given commemorative certificates and areplica of their original land grant or title. Families who were unable to attend are being sent these items separately. As well, ISC recognizes each recipient farm family with either a free indoor wall plaque or a gate sign (at a reduced cost).
In Saskatoon, 79 families were recognized; in North Battleford, 28 families were recognized; in Swift Current, 94 families were recognized; and in Regina, 73 families were recognized.
Various ISC Board members, Executive team members and representatives from the provincial government helped welcome the farm families who were in attendance. Many of these dignitaries handed out the replicas of the original land grants and titles.
After a catered lunch was served at each of the events, families were called to the stage one by one as Julianne Jack, Director of Communications read aloud a unique story for each one - stories that recalled how each family's ancestors came to be on the land and what many of these pioneers experienced in the early days of the province.
Applications for the 2012 CFFA program are now being accepted. The deadline to apply is March 15, 2012.
