ISC named one of Canada’s Greenest Employers

ISC is proud to be one of Canada’s Greenest Employers for the second year in a row. This is a competition organized by the editors of MediaCorp and winners are announced annually on Earth Day.

Canada’s Greenest Employers is a special designation that recognizes employers that lead the nation in creating a culture of environmental awareness in their organizations. The competition was established in 2007, and this is the second time ISC has been awarded the honour.

“It is truly an honour to be recognized as one of Canada’s Greenest Employers,” says Ken Budzak, VP, Operations and Customer Experience and executive sponsor of ISC’s Green Team. “ISC is committed to environmentally sustainable practices, education and awareness and our volunteer Green Team helps us take action.”

  • ISC established an employee-led Green Team;in 2009. The Green Team promotes and engages employees participating in environmentally friendly practices, as well as planning Earth Hour and Earth Day events. The program has continued to evolve and in 2012 a full year operational plan was developed and integrated into the overall corporate plan.
  • In 2012 ISC introduced a standardized recycling program in all ISC offices across the province. This has grown from a paper and printer cartridges to include batteries and writing instruments.
  • ISC’s procurement policy was strengthened in 2012, now formally asking suppliers to state their environmental considerations, including how their organization minimizes their impact on the environment.
  • ISC continues to incorporate new technology such as smart tablets, smart boards, video conferencing and office messenger to lower the environmental impact of information sharing and communication.
